Velveteena Leigh

Ceri Leigh became interested in dressmaking from a young age, choosing to study both drama and textiles in school; this led her to study a degree in Costume for Film and Theatre at Yorkshire Coast College in Scarborough and graduating with a BA(Hons) in 2014.

Since leaving university she has returned to her home city of London to begin working on Velveteena Leigh. She continues to keep her areas of interest broad, working in the worlds of theatre, pinup and cosplay.

Ceri currently works part time whilst freelancing with her dressmaking skills and taking on various projects. She often takes inspiration from the past in her designs and creations, her current favourite period being the Art Deco styles of the 1920’s, and works closely with clients to establish their own personal style and taste which will become an integral part of the design.

Although specialising in custom historical or evening wear, Ceri is happy to take on smaller projects such as Prom gowns, fancy dress and alterations. However she is not limited to working with clients on a one-to-one basis, she has also taken on various projects working with local dance groups and schools to create troupe costumes for performances and recitals.
